Hard Truth introduces new four-year rye from its America’s Original Barrel Smoked Whiskey program
Sipes’ Barrel Smoked Straight Rye Whiskey also marks the third release in Hard Truth’s Sipes’ family of whiskeys
Nashville, Ind. – Hard Truth Distilling Co., a destination craft distillery located on 325-acres in southern Indiana, has announced the release of a new addition to its America’s Original Barrel Smoked Whiskey line: Sipes’ Barrel Smoked Straight Rye Whiskey. Available Friday, March 26, this rye whiskey is finished, blended, and bottled by the Hard Truth team at their state-of-the art craft distillery in Brown County, Indiana.
This is the third release in the Sipes’ family of four-year whiskeys and the fifth in the Hard Truth’s America’s Original Barrel Smoked Whiskey lineup, where hand-selected barrels of aged whiskey are rested in new casks that have been toasted, charred and hardwood smoked for an unmistakably complex and balanced finish.
“The result of resting a full bodied, rich rye whiskey in these smoked barrels is nothing short of outstanding,” said Hard Truth Master Distiller Bryan Smith. “I like my whiskey complex, and this rye fits the bill.”
To celebrate this new offering, the Hard Truth Tours & Tastings Center in Brown County will be hosting a release party on March 26, from 4-7 p.m. The first 50 bottles sold there will be custom etched, and Smith will be on site signing bottles throughout the event. Live music, samples, and a Sipes’ Barrel Smoked Straight Rye Whiskey mixology class are also on the slate.
Available in 750 mL bottles, Sipes’ Barrel Smoked Straight Rye Whiskey is bottled at 90 proof with a 45% ABV. This high-quality, Indiana rye will be available at all Big Woods Restaurants locations and at the Hard Truth Tours & Tastings Center for $59.95 plus tax. The product will also be available at select retailers throughout Hard Truth DIstilling Co.’s distribution areas.
Sipes’ Barrel Smoked Straight Rye Whiskey is a deep amber with an aroma that features burnt sugar, maple, stone fruit and leathery smoke. Smooth and rich on the palate, this whiskey offers a subtle smoke flavor and spiciness with notes of glazed ham, clove, pine nuts, dates and heavy cream. The finish is mild, offering notes of maple sugar, apricot, oak and spice rounded out with hints of lingering campfire smoke and sweet mint.
“It’s the smoothest finish I’ve ever experienced when tasting a whiskey,” noted Hard Truth co-founder Ed Ryan.
